It’s Coffee Time: A Journey to Vegan

Come with me as I talk about a move from meat eater to Vegetarian and finally to Vegan.

Come with me as I talk about a move from meat eater to Vegetarian and finally to Vegan.

I want to share with you my reasons for embarking on this journey at 11 years old and the challenges and difficulties I have faced along the way. A lot of the time people dismiss the challenges it takes to become vegan. It just isn’t as easy for everybody and a lot of the time it is incredibly dependent on the country we are living in.

Trying to be vegan in the south of Portugal was almost impossible. It was of course doable – but I can certainly understand why people would be opposed to taking on the challenge. While trying to be vegan in Lisbon, a city with more availability and restaurant choices, being vegan was slightly more accessible. It still doesn’t mean it is an easy and on that journey people do need to trial and error and definitely sacrifice foods that there is not yet a replacement for.

So, mostly I want to share how to adapt to a more Vegan lifestyle or take a new angle on eating meat and why no matter how hard it is the effort is so so worth it. I have found this path to be enlightening. Although it is challenging and it is so dependent on where we live, who is around us and what is available to us, it is worth every second of effort. Giving up meat and eating animals or hurting animals in any indirect way is something I remain consistently proud of.

Once you align the thinking and priciples the rest is really just second nature.
